It drives me crazy when my HTV design is noticeably crooked on a garment! I am sure you can relate.  There is nothing worse than going through the whole process of choosing your design and colors, and cutting and weeding everything out just to have problems aligning and centering your creation. Luckily, I have found a super simple trick that helps you ensure your design is right where you want it!

Here is how I do it.

  1. Fold your shirt or garment in half vertically by lining up the seams. Place it on your press or in your pressing area if you’re using an iron or an Easy Press.
  2. Press the shirt with whatever method you prefer for just a few seconds to make a vertical crease in the exact middle of your shirt.
  3. Take the bottom layer of your design and fold it in half with the sticky side of the material on the outside so the sides of your design do not stick together and remove any of the material from the carrier sheet.
  4. Pinch the top of the carrier sheet to make a crease in the material. It is OK if your actual design has a crease in it, it will press out.
  5. Unfold your design and line the crease of the carrier sheet up with the crease in your garment.
  6. Use the infographic below as a guide to help determine how low your design should be from the collar:sizing and placing HTV

That’s it - just press it as you normally would.  Super easy! And this method is pretty much foolproof for centering and aligning your HTV designs.
