Perfect for Any Project

While applying our matte HTV to garments like shirts and sweaters is by far the most common use of the material, it is for sure not the only. Want to make a cute wood sign for your house? Customize it with matte HTV! Looking for the perfect gift for a co-worker? Add some matte HTV to a couple of wine glasses and pair it with their favorite bottle of bubbly! The possibilities are truly endless. Blank canvas totes, yoga pants, flip flops, dish towels and so much more are just waiting for some inspiration and matte HTV.

Easy to Weed & Sticky Carrier Sheet

Not all matte iron-on vinyl is the same! If you’ve been in the craft world for any amount of time, you’ll experience the differences for yourself - and the frustration that usually accompanies those disparities. There is nothing worse than cutting out your design only to find that it doesn’t weed properly. You want a matte that is easy to weed, meaning the negative spaces separate easily from the carrier sheet, but you still need a material with a carrier sheet that has just the right amount of stick. If it isn’t sticky enough, small and intricate designs may not stay in place when weeding, and that can be a real pain in the you-know-what when you go to apply it. Conversely, if the carrier sheet is too sticky, you might rethink why you wanted to work with heat transfer vinyl to begin with. But, do not despair, we have the perfect solution!

We have developed a product that is just like Hannah Montana, the best of both worlds. It is so easy to weed - as long as you get the right cut, of course - and the carrier sheet has just the right amount of stick to keep every piece in place.

Can be Layered

Do you love layered HTV projects? Combining different colors of HTV - or even different materials - is a great way to take your designs to the next level. If you have matte in your craft supplies, it can be used as the top or bottom layer for any HTV project. You can layer it with other matte HTV, or you mix it up and add it to a design with other materials that can be layered like glitter, liquid & pattern. If you have never layered HTV before, don’t let it intimidate you. With a little practice, you’ll be a pro in no time. We do recommend reading our blog about layering, however, so you have all the tips and tricks you need.

Ready to Give Matte a Try?

All that talk about what makes our matte HTV so incredible, has to have you ready to give it a try for yourself, right? After you make your selection from our more than 40 colors at iCraftVinyl.com, we will promptly pick and ship out your order (most are shipped out in 48 hours or less). After it arrives and you gawk at your goodies, it is time to play!

Pick out your design, and be sure you mirror each piece before you send it to your cutting machine. You also want to be sure you place your matte HTV on your cutting mat with the shiny side facing down. In other words, you want to make sure the carrier sheet side is down on your mat so only the HTV is cut and the carrier sheet stays in tact. Then load it in to your machine to be cut. Once complete, weed out any negative spaces and get your supplies together to press your matte HTV design.

What you will need to Apply HTV:

  1. Your cut & weeded design

  2. A heat press or home iron (an EasyPress will also work)

  3. Parchment paper or a teflon sheet

  4. Ruler or measuring tape

Before you press:

Whether you’re using a heat press or a home iron, you want to make sure you have your design centered on your shirt, and that it is straight. We typically use the crease method. Fold your shirt (or other garment that you’re pressing on) in half longways. Press or iron it for just a couple seconds to create a crease down the shirt. Then fold your design in half (sticky side out) and crease the carrier sheet. Line up the creases and, voila! A perfectly centered HTV design!

How to Apply Matte HTV with Heat Press:

  1. Set your press to 305-310º - if working with a lot of layers, decrease to 300-305º.
  2. Align your design and cover with a piece of parchment paper or a Teflon sheet.
  3. Press for 10 seconds with medium pressure. If layering, press first layers for 2-3 seconds, and do 10 second final press on the last layer.
  4. Remove carrier sheet. Matte HTV is a warm or cold peel.
  5. Cover and do another press for 10 seconds.

How to Apply Matte HTV with Home Iron:

    1. Set your iron to the hottest setting - usually it is the cotton setting.
    2. Align your design and cover with a piece of parchment paper or a Teflon sheet.
    3. Press firmly for 15-20 seconds. If the design is bigger than your iron, press each section in 15 second increments. Do not slide the iron back and forth until you’re sure the design is adhered.
    4. Always let the material cool before removing the carrier sheet when using an iron.
    5. Cover and iron the design again for another 15 seconds using firm pressure.
